LegalScope / Methodology

How the checks work

LegalScope collects observable website signals and evaluates them against the selected rule set. The report helps organise a review; it does not replace legal advice.

01 / Choose the scope

GLOBAL supports websites across countries with technical checks. Legal packs are implemented for the UK, Germany and Israel. Automatic detection uses heuristics and falls back to GLOBAL when signals are weak or ambiguous. A domain does not determine all applicable laws; multiple markets are not yet modelled together.

02 / Gather observations

A browser and crawler inspect accessible public pages, cookies, network requests, forms, notice links, headers and automated accessibility signals. Crawl limits, location, banners, authentication and load timing can change observations. Private pages and the operator's internal processes are outside the check.

03 / Separate the statuses

Pass: the rule found no issue in the available signals; this does not confirm full compliance. Warn: a signal needs attention. Fail: a rule condition fired; legal applicability still needs review. Manual: automated evidence is insufficient. GLOBAL downgrades fail findings to warn.

04 / Read the score

The score starts at 100. Fail subtracts the rule weight: critical 18, high 12, medium 7, low 3, info 1. Warn subtracts half the weight rounded up. Manual and pass do not reduce the score; the result is bounded to 0–100. This is a heuristic indicator, not a probability of breach or a certificate. Compare reports using the same mode and crawl scope.

05 / Review the limits

GLOBAL does not assess local laws, fines or the legality of cross-border transfers. Legal-pack references and fine indicators need checks for currency and applicability. Third-party request counts alone do not establish a breach. Automated accessibility checks do not replace a manual audit.
